Description
After a mysterious “leave of absence”, DCI Ellis (Sharon D Clarke, Showtrial) is called in to solve a series of tangled, controversial, and emotionally complex cases across England’s rural north.
Exacting, determined, occasionally impatient, Ellis is a first-class murder detective, forensically attuned to detail, with a unique understanding of human nature and the moment that leads a person from innocent to guilty.
Faced with local resentful forces, Ellis is parachuted in like “the wicked witch, no support, no back up” to solve missing person cases and murders. As a Black woman, she is used to being dismissed and overlooked, Ellis knows this invisibility is her superpower.
