1854: Young Jonathan Flaxton take up a mysterious inheritance: a bleak, supposedly haunted hall.
1890: Peter and David search for the Flaxton heir, who has gone missing under mysterious circumstances.
1928: Stilgoe Lodge is to be turned into an orphanage, but a series of hauntings send workmen fleeing in terror.
1945: Matthew and evacuee Terry are not immediately the best of friends, but a shared adventure brings them together.
