When taking a break from working amongst some of the hottest surf rock groups of their time (including ‘Dick Dale’ and ‘The Beach Boys’), surf musicians and super producers Gary Usher and Dick Burns (‘The Customs’) wrote for a number of fictional ‘Hot Rod’ groups. Mixing studio session musicians and established acts, this time notably Dick Delvey of ‘The Challengers’ (appearing here as ‘The Grand Prix’ and ‘The Quads’), this ode to fast cars sees these champions at peak performance with more style than stock on tracks including ‘Hot Rod City’, ‘Candy Apple Buggy’ and ‘Competition Coupe’.
